Gift box cake

So I decided last night around 6:00pm that I wanted to make a cake decorated as a gift box. I didn't know how I was going to do it so I just experimented. This was my first time making a cake like this and everything was going smoothly until I put the fondant on and tried to smooth out the corners. I definitely need more practice but I'm happy that God gave me the patience to see it through and be happy with the end results.

So I ended this cake around 1:00am and had to get up the next morning for church. Oh boy, talk about being tired but I made it to church service and had a blessed day. I hope you enjoy this next trial cake.
By the way, my nephew's 20th birthday is on the 14th so since we all get together on 1st Sundays for family dinner I decided this one would be for him. The funny part is I tried to color the frosting red but it just came out bright pink....I told him to use his imagination and think RED!!!! LOL!!!!
The cake is a two layer 9inch square with chocolate cake and raspberry flavored white cake with raspberry flavored buttercream filling.
If you use your imagination you will see that the border is actually RED!! LOL

Oh, and this was the first time I made a bow. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. The next cake box I'll try will be the infamous Tiffany Box...yeah right!!

Thanks for looking and please leave a comment for any tip or suggestions.
