New Year New Beginnings!!!!

Happy New Year Bloggers,

As 2010 came to a close it gave me a chance to think about all that has occurred in my life. I started baking more and taking decorating classes to learn more about the joy of baking. I love to create things whether it be handstamped cards or homebaked cakes and cupcakes. It gives me joy to see the smile on people's faces when I present them with a homemade treat.

As you can see the picture above is not of a cake but myself. I celebrated my 40th in a grand style and loved every bit of it. The day was going fine until I came home from the hairdresser and found the cake I had made for the party had fell over. I was devasted and cried. I even called my mom and cried to her. She consoled me and told me that don't worry about the little things in life and just enjoy the moment. I took that advice, tried to fix the cake but enjoyed my evening at my party. Everyone didn't even notice the cake and loved it. I made a red velvet cake with Grand Marnier buttercream filling. It was quite tasty. I also made a sheet cake with a high heel on top made from gumpaste.

I know that 2011 will be a New Beginning for me and I pray that it will be the same for all of you. This year will not start with resolutions but instead plans. My plans will be my blueprints of what I will make of 2011 and all my dreams, hopes and desires. I hope you will enjoy this year to the fullest and pray all your dreams come true.

My Very 1st Cake Purse

Hello friends,

It has been a while since I've blogged. Life has had its ups and downs but staying strong in my faith and trusting in God as kept me up. I know way back in May I started baking, which I love to do, cupcakes and such. Well this time I decided to step out of the box and make a designer cake. The easiest part was baking the cake...LOL!!!

I decided to make a cake purse for my 1st venture because my Nanny's (grandmother) 88th birthday is the 31st of August and we wanted to do something special for her. She is a wonderful and extraordinary woman. The cake is Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting covered in white fondant. I think she will love this cake and be so surprised when we all show up to her house and give her the cake and presents.

I hope you enjoyed reading the reason for this cake and the pictures that will follow. I'm sorry you didn't get to see the cake before it was all assembled. I totally forgot trying to remember all the other details that went along with the cake. Oh, by the way....I will not be serving the cake on that green serving dish. HAHAHA :)

Just before adding all the details.

I have now added some accessories to make it look more like a clutch purse.

Next time when I make a purse white I will make the quilted stitch deeper so that it's more noticeable.

I added silver pareils to make the stitching pop and put a bit of "glitz" to the purse.

It wouldn't be a complete clutch purse if the back wasn't adorned with "glitz" as well.
